Yes, Cefsafe is an antibiotic. It contains cefotaxime which is a broad spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the class of drugs known as cephalosporins. It is a prescription drug which is used for the prevention and treatment of various bacterial infections.
Cefsafe contains cefuroxime which is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It works by preventing the cell wall synthesis in bacteria by binding to specific proteins (penicillin-binding proteins). The cell wall protects the bacteria from the environment, in the absence of this cell wall, the bacteria becomes vulnerable and dies.
