Yes, Calcirol can elevate the calcium levels in the blood (hypercalcemia) if taken a high dose for a long time. The normal levels of calcium are restored after discontinuation of this drug and not consuming calcium-containing products. No, Calcirol does not cause weight gain. It has not been reported to cause weight gain by the patients who are taking. It is not a known side effect of this drug. In fact, its long-term use might cause weight loss. It is presumed that it can prevent the formation of fat cells and their storage by increasing the levels of hormone chemical messengers serotonin and testosterone which leads to weight loss.
