No, Amfirst AT should not be discontinued on your own. Discontinuation of a drug on your own can cause some serious problem such as blood pressure or chest pain which lead to heart attack and stroke. So before stopping this medicine, you must consult your doctor, he/she may switch your treatment if you can not tolerate this drug.
Yes, Amfirst AT does cause hair loss in some cases. If you are experiencing hair loss with this drug discuss with your doctor. Your doctor may prescribe alternative medicines to prevent further hair loss and promote hair growth.
Amfirst AT is calcium channel blocker. It works by inhibiting the movement of calcium into vascular smooth muscle cells and cardiac cells which inhibits the contraction of cardiac muscle and vascular smooth muscle and reduce electrical conduction within heart cell and dilate blood vessel. Dilation of the blood vessel reduces the blood pressure.
Rarely, Amfirst AT causes arrhythmia (Irregular heartbeat). However, if you experience any fluctuation in heart rate after consuming this drug, please inform to a doctor and follow his/her instructions.
Amfirst AT comes in form of a tablet and ideally, it should be taken by mouth once daily as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with food or without food at any time of the day. Precautions must be taken in patients with liver disease, diabetes, and hypothyroidism.
