Established as a dream project of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Apollo DRDO Hospital in Hyderabad was built in 1996, with the aim to provide health care services to Defense Laboratories employees. However, the hospital became operational in 2001 with the involvement of the founder of Apollo Hospital Dr Prathap C Reddy.

The hospital is a multispecialty facility equipped with 150 beds providing medical assistance to the south zone of Hyderabad city and Ranga Reddy district.
