AHA researchers included nearly 1.3 million people, both healthy and those with heart disease, in this research. During this, researchers identified those people based on genes who could be vulnerable to insomnia.

Susanne Larsson, assistant professor of cardiovascular and nutritional epidemiology at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, and lead author of the study, said that 'understanding the main causes of insomnia can be treated and improved health. This study by Larsen et al was published in "Genetic Liability to Insomnia and Cardiovascular Disease".
