Yes, Laretol can cause high calcium levels (hypercalcemia) if taken in more than the recommended doses. The normal levels of calcium are restored after discontinuation of this drug and not consuming calcium-containing products. How to take Laretol?

The dose of Laretol varies from case to case basis depending on the medical condition of the patient. You are advised to take it as per your doctor's instructions. It is generally taken once a day or once every other day with or without a meal. Precautions must be taken in patients with malabsorption syndrome and improper liver or kidney function while taking Laretol.
