Mistaurin contains Midostaurin, a tyrosine kinase inhibitor primarily used in the treatment of certain types of cancer, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and advanced systemic mastocytosis. It works by inhibiting multiple kinases involved in cancer cell growth and proliferation.
Treatment of FLT3-mutated acute myeloid leukemia (AML) in combination with chemotherapy.
Treatment of aggressive systemic mastocytosis, systemic mastocytosis with associated hematologic neoplasm, and mast cell leukemia.
Midostaurin inhibits FLT3 and multiple other tyrosine kinases, which are involved in cell proliferation and survival. This inhibition leads to reduced cancer cell growth and induces apoptosis in malignant cells.
Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML): 50 mg orally twice daily with food, in combination with standard chemotherapy.
Advanced Systemic Mastocytosis: 100 mg orally twice daily with food.
Onset of Action: Varies depending on individual response and condition treated.
Duration of Action: Effects last while on medication; continuous monitoring is required.
