What is a retrograde urethrogram (RGU X-ray)?

Retrograde urethrogram (RGU) X-ray is a diagnostic test that is used to look at your urethra for detecting any structural abnormalities.

Urethra is a narrow muscular tube that drains urine from the bladder to the outside of the body.

This test is usually suggested to men to determine the cause of urethral narrowing which is not caused due to the non-cancerous (benign) enlargement of the prostate.

Prostate is a reproductive gland that surrounds the urethra in men. Benign enlargement of the prostate gland is one of the most common causes of narrowing of the urethra in males.
