A new review of 27 studies found that alcohol does not improve sleep quality. According to the findings of these studies, alcohol induces faster and deeper sleep in healthy people but it reduces rapid eye movement sleep (during which the eyes move rapidly around). Apart from this, the more alcohol you consume before sleeping, the more it will affect your sleep. Rapid eye movement sleep lasts for about 90 minutes after falling asleep.
