A cold is a very common problem that usually does not require a visit to the doctor. Cold can be caused by many types of viruses and the symptoms of cold vary depending on the type of virus. It is an upper respiratory tract infection.

Cold is caused by inhaling infected micro droplets present in the air. The viruses present in these droplets enter our body and we get cold. Cold causes problems like cough, fever, sore throat, headache, sneezing and runny nose which are not serious, but they cause problems in doing normal daily work.

Many people take antibiotics for colds, although it is caused by a virus, so taking antibiotics does not provide any special relief in colds. Antibiotics are beneficial for bacterial infections. Home remedies and first aid are sufficient for cold and flu. This article explains what to do for a cold and flu and when to go to the doctor for it.

After this, let the water cool down a little and then gargle with it. For cold and cough, you should gargle three to four times a day. Remember to mix salt in water properly before gargling, otherwise its grains can cause further harm to your throat. You can also gargle by mixing honey in water, but do not give honey to newborn babies at all.
  • If you are taking medicines for cold and cough, then also keep in mind that these medicines also have side effects, so talk to your doctor before taking any medicine.
  • If you have a cold and cough, try to keep your head slightly elevated while sleeping. For this, keep a pillow under your head and neck. By doing this, the mucus from the throat will not come into the nose and your nose will not be blocked while sleeping.
