Coronavirus mainly affects the respiratory system, throat and nose. Patients suffering from COVID-19 usually see symptoms like fever, shortness of breath, cough, runny nose, loss of smell and taste. According to a report, patients of COVID-19 who were treated with drugs like steroids, remdesivir and tocilizumab complain of joint and shoulder pain as well as an inability to move within 60 to 90 days of recovery.

A research paper published in 'The Lancet' in October 2020 found that about 15% of patients have complained of joint pain after recovering from COVID-19. According to experts, the patients who were already suffering from diabetes, liver disease and kidney diseases, are usually the ones reaching the hospital complaining of pain in the joints and knees. Along with high fever, they have problems like severe pain, swelling, difficulty in walking and sitting. As such, it is important to know why patients are complaining of pain in bones due to COVID-19.

Reason for pain in bones after recovery from COVID-19

Health experts say that due to the side effects of COVID-19, the proper amount of blood is not supplied to the bones of the patients, due to which the condition of bone death arises. This condition affects only one side of the body. Some people have problems with pain in the hips, joints and knees, while some people complain of severe pain and swelling in the shoulder.

According to experts, COVID-19 completely damages the kidneys and lungs, but it does not permanently damage the bones and joints. If you have these problems after recovery from COVID-19, then they should not be ignored at all as they can gradually take a serious form. Sometimes, a person may not able to move fully and do their daily work. Health experts advise patients to contact their doctor immediately if they experience such symptoms.
