It is forbidden to eat or drink anything one hour before and after taking the dose of cholera vaccine. Children between 2 and 5 years of age are given three doses of cholera vaccine, while adults and children above 6 years of age are given this vaccine in two doses at 7 to 14 days. If more than 6 weeks have passed since the second dose of this vaccine, then the course of this vaccine has to be started again.

Adults and children above 6 years of age should be given a booster dose of cholera vaccine (dose that increases the ability to fight the disease) after two years.
