Doctors for The Journey of Birth: How a Baby is Born

The process of the birth of a baby is long, which starts with the male sperm cells meeting the female egg during sex. These eggs come out of the ovary during ovulation. This process is called fertilization. After this, the fertilized eggs reach the uterus through the fallopian tube. Then it starts dividing into one to two, two to four cells. After a week, 100 cells are formed in it and they stick to the lining of the uterus. Thus an embryo is implanted in the uterus.

Ovulation can happen at different times in every woman's menstrual cycle. On average, if a woman's period is 28 days, then ovulation happens on the 14th day. At this time the woman is most fertile. However, even if you have sex 5 days before ovulation, there is a possibility of pregnancy at that time, because sperm can survive in the woman's body for 5 days.

This depends on whether the delivery is normal or through C-section. Let us understand this in detail -

Normal Delivery

If the baby and the mother are healthy and there is no medical problem, then normal delivery can take place. This delivery includes 3 stages, which are as follows -

  • The first stage begins when after the completion of 9 months, the woman starts feeling contractions, that is, labor pain begins. In this stage, the cervix of the woman can expand and become 6 to 10 inches wide.
  • The next stage is the delivery of the baby. This process can take from a few minutes to a few hours. In this stage, the head of the baby becomes visible and it comes out.
  • In the third stage, the placenta can be delivered about 30 minutes after the baby comes out. It is later separated.

When a man and woman become intimate and the sperm reaches the egg, fertilization occurs during ovulation. Then the fertilized egg reaches the uterus and starts dividing into cells. Later these cells start turning into an embryo. The birth of a baby takes place in three stages. In the first stage there is contraction, in the second stage the baby's head comes down and in the third stage the placenta comes out.
